We are in the process of becoming Open and Affirming!

On June 5th, 2022, we asked this question:

Shall Chinese Congregational Church become an "Open and Affirming" congregation according to the United Church of Christ, effective upon certification of the congregational vote held June 5, 2022?

中華綱紀慎教會是否應成為根據聯合基督教會的 “公開和確認” 教會，並在 2022 年 6 月 5 日舉行的本會會員投票獲得認證後生效？

86% of our members voted “yes” to officially become an ONA (Open and Affirming) congregation according to the United Church of Christ!

The Chinese Congregational Church is now an Open and Affirming Congregation!

We did not plan the vote to be on June 5th, 2022, the day we celebrated Pentecost Sunday. But I can’t think of a more perfect Sunday to enter a time of newness by the Spirit’s power in our church community as we proclaim loudly and proudly that Christians who are LGBTQ persons or seekers who are LGBTQ persons will know safety, bravery, and affirmation without caveats concerning who God created them to be and love.

Pentecost Sunday is our yearly remembrance and celebration of the beginnings of the Christian Church. Pentecost Sunday will now also be the anniversary of our vote to become an ONA congregation in the United Church of Christ!

I wonder if you could join me in prayer that our mere existence will save and bless LGBTQ persons who need to hear that God loves them. May the flags we raise in love in front of our building signal to LGBTQ persons that God adores them. May LGBTQ persons who come to our Sunday worship services, community meals, other gatherings, and work of ministry, know that they are free to be a part of our body without reservation.
